JRP is a hallmark pride of philadelphia, beloved by locals and visitors alike. The steaks and pork are reliably excellent and reflect the owners grounded pride in his craft and love for his customers. This place is the reason you visit Philly.
Oh man, we've had pork sandwiches before, but John's were a world above any of them. The pork was perfectly cooked, the spinach and garlic mixture and the bread were incredible and the way they complimented each other made for the absolute best pork sandwich we've ever had. It's one of those iconic little spots that serves up the best of the best. I only wish I could pack it up and bring it back to Connecticut with me ! So, next time you're in Philly, belly up to the counter and get ready to enter Pork Sandwich Nirvana!
Lots of parking and easy to get to, they also take card as well as cash. Very efficient ordering and they make the sandwiches fresh and they do not take very long to come up. Be warned, large is a very large sandwich. I had roast pork with provolone it was absolute perfection. It was hot steamy goodness with a bit of pepper and salt and you could tell the pork was perfectly cooked as well as sliced. They are closed on Sunday and Monday so be aware before you walk from centre city to get there. It is worth the walk. They do have lots of seats, undercover, and outside.
I had the Philly cheesesteak—and wow, 12oz of meat is no joke! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was packed with deliciousness. Hands down one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. 15/10, absolutely worth the hype. I have to come back!
Quick run for Brunch at one of the famous spot in Philly! They’re known for their roast pork, but many people (including us) find that their cheesesteaks are much better! They just opened up and the line was packed! The steak is pretty loaded up in the sandwich, but not a fan of the grease that keeps dripping out of the sandwich, so kinda messy, must be from the fried onions. But overall, it’s better than many other cheesesteak places around. #PhillyCheesesteak
Met the man the myth the legend himself John Jr! Out here doing the lords work and providing delicious food. I interrupted him as he was conversing with veterans who were eating at his establishment and got a photo. The day was hot and the line was long. But man was this worth it. These are massive and they don’t skimp out on the meat. So if you’re with your partner and you both have light stomachs. Just get 1. Either way highly recommend.
Tried the roast pork, roast beef, steak & cheese, and chicken sandwiches. Roast pork was delicious, but the roast beef was the best I’ve ever had. Steak and cheese beats Geno’s and Pat’s hands down - I don’t like liquid cheese on my steak and cheese! Could take or leave the spinach but amazing sandwiches with high quality ingredients - bigger sandwiches at a better price. We got sliced roast beef to go and make our own sandwiches.
Location but far out. Better than Pat's or Geno's where no longer freshly made to order. Wait after order about 10min. Cheesesteak good. Didn't regret making a trip out. Roast pork (never had them) surprisingly good. Guess it's well thinly sliced, so became flavorful, no longer dried-up taste. Choice of mild or sharp provolone. Popper was pepper cheese fried breaded. Quite nice. Fries crinkle. Serves Pepsi drinks.
